"My works are often complicated, and I wanted to undertake a piece that was simple but still colourful. I also wanted to try out some new paints with only primary colours and black and white to experiment with using a limited palette. I really like that the eye is the focus of the piece, so I used mostly watercolour and ink for the skin and eye so that the paint looked like it was indeed smeared onto her face."
