FAQ
All you need to know about doodlewear.
Understanding Our Products

By measuring and following our easy clothing size charts for each different style, you will get the perfect fit. As you will know, different styles and brands have different size charts, so it's essential to double-check them whenever you shop online.
You can find all this information in our 'Size Style Guide'. It's essential to read this information carefully whenever you shop online.
Yes, we have the popular Ladies Mali Tee with a gorgeous scoop neck.
The Mali Tees has a scoop neck, is lightweight, 150 GSM, 34-singles 100% combed cotton, longer in length, curvier and is more figure-hugging. While the Maple Tees is more of a traditional tshirt style with a crew neck, is mid weight 180 GSM, 28-singles 100% combed cotton, are shorter in length and boxier.
The Mali is ideal for those who want more fitted tees. The Maple is ideal for those who prefer more traditional boxy tees.
Furthermore, due to them being different t-shirt styles, there are variations in the "doodlewear sizing," specifically in the Body width x Body length (cm) measurements.
TOP TIP: If you are not very tall, please double-check that Mali's body length will be appropriate for you in the body width size you need.
Check out our Staple T Shirts. In addition to being the Maple's companion tee, lots of our customers wear this style as a unisex shirt. This is the same for the Men's Premium Crew. Use our handy size guide to double check and get the perfect size.
The Mali fabric is lightweight, with a weight of 150 GSM and 34-singles. It is a comfortable fabric to work with for a more figure-hugging style. It's important to note that, like many thin white fabrics, the fitted Mali tee in the colour white is not completely opaque. If you wear a dark or bright-coloured bra underneath, you may notice a slight hue showing through the white fabric. However, there is no need to worry as this can easily be avoided by wearing a light-coloured, white, or natural-coloured bra or singlet underneath, depending on the season and look you are after.
You can learn more about our garments HERE
GSM is grams per square metre of the fabric. It refers to how thick/heavy the fabric is. The higher the gsm the thicker the fabric. For example, our midweight Staples and Maples are 180 gsm, which means they are thicker/heavier than our lightweight 150 gsm Mali.
The higher the number of 'singles' the softer the fabric. It refers to how many single pieces in a thread. For example, our lightweight Mali is 34-singles, which means they are softer than our midweight Staples and Maples that are 28-singles.
Garment Quality and Art Print Care
Our products have a good wash/UV durability when cared for correctly.
How to care for your art print and products:
- Please wash before wearing/using.*
- Gentle cold wash on all products.
- Wash garments inside out. (Wash tote bags inside out too and place tote bags inside a laundry wash bag to prevent the handles from getting caught in the washing machine).
- Do not tumble dry.
- Do not iron print.
- Dry in shade.
- We also don't recommend using Earthwise or Ecostore detergent as they can cause print fading and we want your gear to look sharp for as long as possible.
*Any slight shading or marks will wash out in the first wash.
Our garments are from the quality brand AS Colour and are soft and high quality.
The printing on our products is a high quality digital direct to garment printing (not transfers). Because the ink adheres to the fabric of our top's beneath, the art print is considerably softer than a traditional screenprint.
Our bolder, brighter Innobella Textile Inks are water-based pigment inks that are Okeo-Tex Eco-Pass certified and CPSIA compliant. If properly cared for, they offer excellent washability. The result is a great looking garment that looks brighter, last longer with proven washability as evidences by AATCC wash tests, where our inks score 4.0 or better on every test.

New Zealand, Sustainability and Ethics
The ink our printers use are water-based pigment inks that are Okeo-Tex Eco-Pass certified and CPSIA compliant. They also recycle them with Brother NZs ink recycling program.
In printing-to-order, we only produce what is required, and avoid having leftover/unwanted stock that often goes to waste.
We ship our products in recycled plastic packaging called Pollastic, which is made from 100% Ocean bound plastic. Once used, it can be recycled with the soft plastic recycling schemes.
We use minimal packaging to reduce waste.
The artwork from our artists are produced in New Zealand and our quality printing is done in the Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. All of our artists are based in New Zealand. Our care cards are designed and printed in New Zealand.
Our garments are from trusted New Zealand brand AS Colour and they produce their garments internationally. According to their website they have an experienced ethical sourcing specialist and do source responsibly, with an A- grade in the 2019 Ethical Fashion Report. AS Colour believes in transparency, and that “good workplace standards, decent health and safety requirements, fair pay and conditions, and care for the environment are important elements in business success.” You can find more about their production here. They have a high level of traceability of their suppliers which you can read about here.
At doodlewear, we are constantly striving for higher levels of sustainability. The AS Colour Kids/Youth Supply Hoodies/Crews have not yet been changed over to recycled polyester. These will eventually be swapped for sustainably sourced versions by AS Colour but at the moment they are working through their other styles first. AS Colour's ultimate goal is to replace these with sustainably sourced versions, but there is no set timeline for when this will happen yet.
